A new look

As much as I love long hair, I am often told that I look best in short hair ... so today I visited Marina and came out like this:
An interesting thought -- besides mostly doing what feels good to me, as a blind woman I do listen and ask for others input if a hairstyle is a good fit for me ... colors go together, etc.

A 7th grade client told me 'I could never be that brave' speaking of cutting her hair so short!  What a great opportunity to talk about all the ways she IS brave!  I was told today how brave I was to run.  No, the bravery goes to my running friends.  Love them all.

My sweet daughter  had to have mouth surgery today.  Oh how I hurt for her.  Liquid diet for two weeks.

Cricket gets her staples out tomorrow.  Yay for her.  Yay for me.  A client told me today -- it seems like forever that she has been off duty.  I know!  Can't wait to go for a nice long walk with her.  I think she is yearning to be a working girl again, too.

Hi there Becky,
When people say 'brave', perhaps they are merely indicating their admiration for your resolve to live fully and positively with a disability. I am one of those people who share this admiration. It's folk like you who enable us to look at our own lives with a new measure of enthusiasm.
Thank you.
I hope Cricket is soon back to working for you again. I have two guide-dog, puppy-walker friends and am constantly amazed at what it takes for one of these dogs to earn their accreditation.

I love the new hair style! I love that it's the belief we have in ourselves, on the inside, versus the status pop culture expects on the outside, that you were able to you explain to your young friend! Hoping your daughter gets well soon and sending many see beautiful thoughts Cricket's way for staple removing tomorrow!

You look beautiful! I love that you listen to the opinions of those you trust. It's refreshing and returns me to a time when I was a small child!

Great choice on the cut - it looks super cute on you! Sorry to hear about your daughter; hope she sails through, and YAY for Cricket getting back to work.

Boy, your parents think the cut is very chic and just right with your natural waves and all. Hope our dear Nat is on the mend quickly and Cricket doesn't scratch her ouchie so she can get back to work soon. love you

You look adorable in short hair. You're so petite, it just "fits!" And poor Cricket looks kind of pitiful. I have what I'm sure is a silly question, but after all this time, will she know/remember what is expected of her as a guide dog?

Becky, That is not a silly question at all. Cricket has been off duty for six weeks. Fortunately, she has been a working girl so it should be like getting back on the bike and come easily to her. One of the reasons we've waited is so that first experience back with the harness is a positive one for her and she wants to go back to work. Crossing my fingers that she will remember and easily return. Thanks for your care and concern.

You may be familiar with someone discussing IPL therapy as if it were just another laserlight lighting therapies for your epidermis, but that isn't entirely real. While IPL therapy does make use of a system that propagates wavelengths of lighting onto your epidermis just like any other laserlight lighting therapies, there are some things that are quite different about the IPL laserlight used for these therapies.
