Year of the Tiger

For the past three years we have taken our office and their spouses to the Mandarin Restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year. It started three years ago when the holidays were suddenly here and I hadn't planned an office party.  So we declared we were celebrating  Chinese New Year and were able to have our party in February.   Now it is a yearly tradition. There will be 20 of us enjoying delicious food and great company. Now, the dilemma of what should I wear? Please cast your vote! 1. This first picture is a Chinese dress that was made for me by a tailor when we were in China four years ago. It has only been worn a couple times although I love it. This may just be the excuse - although I might feel a little overdressed (most will be casual).
Second option is a suit jacket also made from the tailor in China -- it is actually Natalie's but still here in her closet so can I borrow it Nats?
Lastly, the good old standby an outfit from Ann Taylor!  That is my comfort zone.
Cricket thinks she needs to pose any time the camera comes out ... although  I don't think she is that amused.  Just click the camera and give me a kibble.  What should I wear?

You're so funny! I love the red dress, and it looks gorgeous on you. But I'd say wear what you feel comfortable in. Not so much physical comfort, but mentally. If you'll feel comfortable about wearing the red dress, go for it!

Oh I like the 1st one. That is so cool that it was made by a Chinese tailor too. Very neat story to go along with your outfit.

I vote for the dress! In China they love to go "all out" for Chinese New Year... so I say, embrace the tradition and go for it!

Personally, I'm never comfortable being overdressed, so I would encourage you to wear what you feel best in. However, that dress is awesome and has a great story to go with it. So, if you're comfortable in it, then definitely go with the dress. :-)

My vote has to be for the dress! You'll only be wearing it for a few hours, right? You look fabulous in that dress.

How come no one is voting middle-of-the-road? I was going to say the Chinese jacket--because it is beautiful and a little less dressy if you are worried about being over dressed. Don't go with Ann Taylor, though. That is much too safe! I just bought a bright blue bubble dress and am wearing it with tights to go out for dinner with friends tonight. Totally out of my comfort zone but a lot of fun! --Heidi
