Steve and Cricket

I love this picture ...it shows the sweet relationship between Steve and Cricket. Sometimes he will bend down and tell her as in this picture ... thanks for keeping Becky safe. She looks up at him with these loving eyes and wagging tail as if to say - you can count on me! Thanks to Pantera and now Cricket, Steve doesn't worry too much about me in whatever my adventurous plans are for the day. A guide dog has given me such freedom and independence that it keeps our relationship as a couple healthy and interdependent too (sorry if I am sounding like a marriage and family therapist - oh, I am!).

So that Cricket and I could form that bond so necessary to be an effective guide dog team, the first month or so after returning from Guide Dogs for the Blind with a new dog, the family keeps their distance ... then as our bond was formed they are able to also have a bond with her.

What a cute picture! Good job Cricket. Yes the bonding stage is so critical as a team. The family bonding ends up being so different. It's nice to see the dogs bond in two ways.
