A good haircut ?

Today was a day to unwind from a busy week at the office.  Steve is off enjoying some hiking and biking with his brother in the sunshine.  I have many dear friends. Just spent a two-hour lunch with one ... so fun. I ran with two friends this morning - 9 miles today on our journey to the Ogden Marathon. They are incredible. Another dear friend said Becky you've got a really good haircut and color. Take a picture so we can remember :).  Thank you iphone for helping me take the photo.

I love my running shoes.  It was time to get another pair.  I chose the same style - different color.  These are bright yellow with bright pink laces!  Describing the shoes makes me giggle -- sometimes I describe things to people like they don't see it :).  Cricket and I have a special friend with us today, Dahlia.  She is loving being outside on the deck with the sunshine.

Visual

I'm a visual learner and thinker. I learned braille (**note, I have so far to go in learning braille) by visual in my mind. Ultimately, you've got to be able to recognize with feel but know what the feel means. I can picture what an A looks like thus leading to knowing how it should feel. I can visualize what women (note: key one in finding the correct restroom) looks like in my mind.

I pull together an outfit by visualizing in my mind.  I'm excited about my rooster towels hanging on the oven because I visualize their coloring is just right for the area with some red (a color I am working on having more subtle) with some green, yellow, purple and orange.  I just bought a table runner and need to find a touch of yellow and green for the centerpiece. 

The other day I bent down while pulling items out of the dryer and the door had swung open and smack. It HURT and actually still does. I was surprised there was no black and blue to show for it (really I'm glad there isn't). However, the next morning when it was still hurting I asked Steve to rub his hand over my forehead to validate that he could feel the bump and hear how it hurt. Of course, he did with the proper oh i'm so sorry, wow, that must really hurt and such :). It has become a visual in my work all week! I have used this example how we need to be listened to. Even when someone can't fix the problem, it helps to have them listen and empathize with our pain for a moment. Thanks Steve and thanks dryer for giving me a good example. Ouch. Often lessons learned come with some pain, right.  I remember Janae in class reminding us to put our hands out in activities to prevent this situation. 

Speaking of visual, Natalie and I went to the movie New Year's Eve. (Of course, I would love to go to any movie with her just for the fun of going to a movie and being with her) However, we also both loved this movie. Sometimes it surprises people that I really enjoy movies. Sure I miss out on some things. It really helps to have a few whispers of who/what is going on but really you can follow much through the dialogue.  I was excited to read that our new theater is getting DVS (descriptive video service) which is so awesome!
