I will be sharing with a special group of RESILIENT women today this quote:
The human being is born with an incurable capacity for making the best of things. Helen Keller.
We all have a story to tell. We all have the capacity to be RESILIENT - to bounce back from difficult circumstances. I am inspired each day by friends, family, colleagues, clients, strangers who demonstrate their resiliency. What keeps (or kept) you going when life has knocked you down? And when you feel knocked down ... what strengths helped you climb or crawl back up and keep on going? Was there a turning point for you?
Missy the pug is RESILIENT and doing amazingly well, for now, and has turned over her Monday posts so that I can share your RESILIENT stories on Mondays. (Sometimes I need an extra lift of encouragement to get Moving on Monday and start the week.)
Email me at becky.resilient@gmail.com with your story of resiliency.

Mondays with Missy
Missy the pug here. Its a quiet Monday around here. Ever since going on these medications - I am always hungry, but picky. It needs to be tasty. Yesterday in church Becky gave a hug to Garen. He taught me how to 'high five' seven years ago while the family was on vacation! I still do it every morning for Steve to earn some granola.
Happy Monday. Sorry Missy fans -- I put this in draft instead of publish!

Mondays with Missy (the pug)
Originally Natalie was coming home to visit to perhaps say goodbye to our sick Missy girl. After being on medication for the past three weeks for her collapsed trachea and enlarged heart, Missy had other plans to bring joy into the weekend.
Have you tried a Mud Mask before? A little messy but much fun.

Lessons Missy reminds us of: Have a big heart. Love and love some more. Unconditional Love. Always greet those you love excitedly even if you are old and sick. Spunkiness is important. Be creative in how you communicate.
We love you Missy!

Mondays with Missy
We have been visiting Adam and Natalie -- His graduation was on Saturday. Congratulations!! (more details to follow on that celebration). We felt Missy needed to be watched over carefully while we were away so we left her with our vet. Kendall carried her in with her various meds and favorite blanket. He set her down assuming she would stay close by with but she perked up and ran around with her grass stained paws and legs from running around in the grass earlier that day as Kendall had mowed the lawn. She has definitely perked up for the time being. This pug has spunk.
We laughed that some of our conversations over the weekend with the family kept turning back to laughing about memories with Missy. Silly dog.

Mondays with Missy
Missy is doing so well (atleast for a 14 year old dog with a collapsed trachea and enlarged heart). She has perked up this week and even has a little more bounce in her step and a wag in her tail. Each morning and evening when it is time for her four pills Cricket is quick to run and also sit and look cute. She has quickly learned that we just can't pass up giving her a little treat for her cuteness and obedience.
The picture is of Missy and Cricket sitting watching Steve intently as he puts Missy's pills inside a yummy treat.

Monday with Missy
We've been doing a lot of lovin' on our little Missy girl. Last week her cough became more persistent, and we took her to the vet where she stayed overnight. Our house felt so empty and quiet on Thursday night without our sweet little Missy. After keeping her overnight and various tests, he concluded that she had a collapsed trachea and an enlarged heart. We brought her home Friday afternoon with four new medications: Clavamox, Tussigon, Tamaril, and Lasix. She seems to be perking up a little bit more each day. I keep asking her Missy, are you in pain? This morning she was still willing to give her 'high five' to earn her bite of cereal from Steve. She is cuddly but if she is held too much she starts to cough and needs to lay down. Over the years, we have all come home and call out -- Missy, even though we know she can't hear us anymore. Missy is love. Missy is spunk. Its hard to remember our family life without little Missy girl. I love her for what she means to our kids. This little dog has been there for them for 14 years. If they had a bad day at school, Missy was there to greet them. If they had a happy day at school, Missy was there to greet them. They both have SO many memories that include Missy. We hope we have many more Mondays with Missy.

Mondays with Missy
Monday morning comes and usually Cricket and I are off to work and Missy finds her place on Cricket's bed. We tell Missy good bye and often a little envious of her starting the new week in such a relaxed way! Sometimes I check to make sure she is still breathing -- she gets in such a sound sleep as she has gotten older.
This Monday with the holiday of Martin Luther King Day we are home. Cricket does not seem too amused that Missy has taken over her bed.
