In the moment

I am enjoying reminiscing and going through the years with Cricket as my guide.  We are putting together a fun Retirement Book for her!  She is going to love it :).

In this moment - I am packing my suitcase for a quick trip to San Rafael for meetings.  Cricket seems uninterested in the suitcase.  She seems to know she isn't making this trip.  I will miss her and will be a unique experience to be at Guide Dogs for the Blind without a guide dog!  My suitcase feels a little light without her fleece and dog food in my bag :(.  Love you Crickers.  Steve will take good care of you.

Yesterday Cricket and I had a beautiful experience speaking to a group of fifth graders.  We talked about blindness, understanding and celebrating our differences and being kind to one another.  They had amazing questions.  One was .. when you run what do you do if you aren't running as fast as your guide?  I said, I ask them can we please stop :).  I will return with my new guide in April to their classroom!  I love sharing with kids (and adults :).  Cricket spent the rest of the day at my office -- felt so good to have her there.

I will be back home tomorrow night.  I am loving my new striped skirt -- will work perfectly for the flight then arriving just in time for a meeting and then dinner with Mimi!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

How wonderful to have a book that shows all the great moments over the years you have been together! I hope, when you give Cricket her book, you also add a small gift basket of her favorite toys, items she has helped you with and food treats that she has enjoyed over those Golden years.

Wishing Cricket all the best for her retirement.

With love and woofs,
Riley (a Golden Retriever from NZ).
