Commitment to Friendship

Lunch with a friend yesterday was sweet.  My friend Gerrie will be leaving on an LDS Mission with her husband in a month. We knew that our lunch yesterday probably would be our last lunch together prior to her departure.  She has been a dear friend for years and I love her!  She is such a kind, caring person.

Each time we have lunch I reflect on something she said nine years ago when we moved from being in the same neighborhood.  She said - I love you and we are not going to lose touch! Let's make sure we get together once a month for lunch.

We all know how easy it is for time to fly and lose touch or say ... we've got to get together as time passes.  As a result of her commitment to our friendship, we have stayed in touch for years and grown closer than when we were neighbors and serving in a church calling together.  Love her.  Love her example of commitment to our friendship.  I am going to miss you, Gerrie!

Every time I am with her she asks me how my kids are doing and tells me she loves them.

I have a friend like that. How lucky. It's so nice to know there's someone who will always stick with us. Well, guess my husband has too. But it's different righ?
