My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Sending Love

The bond between a guide dog and handler is pretty incredible.  Sometimes I search for words to describe - the depth of gratitude felt for a dog that truly gives and serves and is so connected to our world.  The loss when Pantera died was deep.  I will always treasure the few moments I had as she died to hug her and tell her how much I loved her and for giving me back my bounce in my step in so many ways.

My friend, and truly a mentor for me on the GDB AA board, Deborah, just had to say goodbye to her Tuscan.  I recall meeting Tuscan at our meetings two years ago.  He reminded me a lot of Cricket and was near the same age.   I know she would appreciate support and comments http://deborahkendrick.blogspot.com/2011/08/goodbye-tuscan.html  .

I know the grief of losing a canine friend and companion. It may be deeper when the friend has devoted his/her life to helping. Many blessings.
