What Really Matters

We celebrated Steve today. It was such a joyful evening to have his mom/step-dad, siblings & spouses over for dinner. We played How well do you know Steve.  I invited his mom, siblings and our kids to share a question or so about Steve. We laughed and reminisced. A prize for the one that knew the most answers (gift card to Steve's favorite restaurant) and a prize for the one that knew the least (his least favorite treat -- anything with coconut)!
It felt so delicious to laugh and celebrate this birthday boy that I love so much.

As I pause to reflect on the day and my life, I am filled with such gratitude.  The simple kindnesses that have been shown to us is beautiful during a challenging week.  A phone call,  a sweet email, a friend/colleague sharing her rice recipe with me which included bringing up the ingredients - walking me through making it, and then a phone call during the dinner to make sure it turned out okay!  We get through difficult times with love.

What a fun game! Such great smiles on everyone's faces. I'm totally with Steve--I don't like anything with coconut!!
