Overwhelm ...Joy

Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed with Christmas right around the corner? Got up early this morning and made my list of what needs to be done. Really need to be getting ready for work rather than this fun diversion of dressing my dog for a picture with beautiful scarves, one made by my mom.
Last night was "Restorative Yoga - her message was Time is Big. We have this moment and that is enough.
Also, feeling incredible joy and gratitude this holiday season.

Any tips to share on getting through the overwhelm to the joy?

One thing at a time. That's how I get through the times that threaten to overwhelm me.

Simplify as much as possible, focus on the spirit of the season and breathe.

I love Cricket in red scarf. He does a great job of modeling.

I love Cricket's Christmas wish list. It is remarkably similar to Kyle's list. :)

Cricket is darling. I somehow think that Tahoe would run away from me if I tried to dress him up-Ha!

Just take it easy and each day complete one thing on your list. At night, take a bubble bath to relax.

I have been focusing on the little things. It doesn't take much to make a season special, so instead of trying to get everything perfect, I try to find a few little things to do and then not worry about the rest of it.

For example, since my kids are still small, Christmas shopping is an adventure! And my daughter told me that she would rather get a present for her grandma that receive any presents herself! I was amazed and so pleased. So I took them shopping and we focused on getting a small thing for each person, not worrying about secrecy, just on blessing people. We had a glorious trip together and got the gift shopping done is a flash!

My holiday tip: Do what you WANT, not what you feel OBLIGATED to do. Chances are good that other people won't really care if you don't give them a plate of cookies, or whatever other tradition we feel we have to follow through on.

What a creative photo of Cricket with her Christmas list. I'm quite impressed. She looks so cute & festive with the red scarf. I've been trying to come up with a photo of my pack that's fun & full of Christmas spirit. I'm still working on it & I'm trying not to become overwhelmed.

Love the picture with Cricket and his list. My Neeli has been preparing hers for quite a while now:)

One task at a time - and it'll get done.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas.

I love the photo of the dog....and his Santa list. so funny.

No tips for you on how to drop the overwhelm and get to the joy.

I think our pioneer ancestors would be shocked to see what Christmas has turned into.
They put up a tree Christmas eve, simply decorated
Put up a stocking and found the simplest, home made gifts inside received with JOY
Preparations for a little baking
a few visits to neighbors that lived close enough by to do so.

I think our society as a whole has put the overwhelm into Christmas and slowly eliminated the joy

I guess we just have to prioritize to the things that REALLY have any meaning to how we want OUR Christmas to be.

We hope Santa brings Cricket the things on her list. I'm sure our cat Edward has "extra kibble" on his list, too. Have a peaceful and joyful Christmas, Becky.
