Dare to Dream

I have been selected as a finalist for Wasatch Woman of the Year in the Business Category. Me? Really? My career life (and the rest of my life, too) is full of joy, however I was very surprised to get this call. I believe that I am living my dream. I absolutely love my work, my office, my clients, and my colleagues. I question my qualifications as a finalist. Then, I ponder, if persistence and tenacity are part of this category, I'm in. If not giving up, I'm in. If being told that I can't get into graduate school and working hard to show that I can, I'm in. If not getting a paycheck the first year as we sacrificed to get the business running, I'm in. If being questioned on my ability to be able to be a therapist who is blind, who now has a full practice, I'm in. If being a finalist is about working hard for a dream, I'm in.

Thank you to my family who have believed in me. Thank you to my incredible husband who told me from day one - I believe in you and your dream and supported me through seven years of school, various internships and jobs. He found and helped me create an office in a location that would be very accessible for me. Thank you to those who loved and supported me yesterday as there was a bump in the journey. It meant the world to me. My sweet daughter told me - pushing through this bump is part of why you are a finalist.

Thank you to Natalie and Francesca for affirming that deep turquoise is the color of choice for the photo shoot today. The article and photo will be out December 17 and you can vote at Wasatch Woman at that time. As much as I like to be in the background, I will invite your vote and hope that I can encourage another woman to believe in her dreams.

Cricket sat quietly on the sidelines cheering me on during the photo shoot. As we were waiting for our ride, the photographer invited Cricket up on a bench for a few extra photos of the two of us together. He tried to get one of her looking at me. She would not turn her head. I explained to him, as a model dog, she is used to looking at the camera!

Dare to Dream.

Holy Smokes! You totally deserve this award... and many more. You deserve an award for amazing therapist who saves lives, a darling person inside and out, a best friend, and fabulous running partner, and the best boss ever, oh ya - and super cool mom.
Gosh, I could probably come up with some more things you could win an award for - but I think you get the point. You are an inspiration and I'm so so lucky to know you. You're totally going to WIN this thing!
