Simply Love Christmas

We are keeping Christmas simple this year. Do I dare say it? Not putting up the Christmas tree this year! Or garland around the staircases.  Not exchanging quite as many gifts.    We are pulling out our Nativities with Christmas music in the background.

Sets from Texas, a friend, Italy, Israel (thanks mom).
I actually painted this set.  Pulling it out kind of makes me want to try ceramic painting again.
This is another one that I painted when we were first married.

Sets from China & Peru.  A set in each room is the simple tradition.
Some simple baking will include Sugar Cookies tomorrow.  I hope my kitchen isn't too surprised when I enter and start stirring things up.

I remember as a little girl on the evening of  Christmas telling my mom I was sad it was over.  In her lovely wisdom she said we had the memories and also had my birthday to look forward to in three weeks.   Also in her patience she let me leave out my Christmas treasures for days on the couch to stretch out the season.

She taught me the message of appreciating the past, looking forward to the future, and the gift of living in the moment.

Becky, hi!
Since you left such a lovely message on my blog, I just had to come check you out! I'm glad I did. Talk about an inspiration.
I love your idea of a simple Christmas. We do that too from time to time (okay, usually). I just LOVE those hand-painted nativities you did. The first has a beautiful simplicity but the second is my favorite. Beautiful.
Have a wonderful holiday season and eat a few of those sugar cookies for me. ;-)

Becky, my Christmas is simpler this year too.

Okay, you're going to think I'm pretty sappy but I was actually tearful when I saw the video. The thought of people sharing joy that way was so wonderful to watch and hear. Halleluiah!

The video is lovely! The interactions between some of the people is touching. Thank you for the kind comments about our Christmas times so long ago now.

I got downright weepy watching the video. I wonder how many just joined in because they knew it and weren't part of the plan? I would hope I would stand up!
