Cricket's Monday

When I have a busy, long day I also must think about Cricket and how that impacts her. She helps me keep balanced in many ways. Today I was at the office for 12 hours. So, Cricket and I started our day with some gardening. Cricket and I love starting our day this way.
Sometimes, Cricket sleeps in my office during my mid-day group. Because she was going to be in the office quite a while today, she joined us for group today.

Cricket and I had a quick walk up to the grocery store during our break. When they bring out the pumpkins, it has us reflecting and becoming scentimental about Dick's grocery store! Twenty years ago when we were searching for a home in this area, knowing I would soon give up my driver's license, we called on some homes from this grocery store. I remember we had to climb over the pumpkins to get to the yes... pay phone! As we were walking into Dick's today, I realized what Cricket was swerving around (pumpkins), I said outloud, Oh Cricket we need to stop and get your picture. A man walking into the store asked me -- what did you say? Oh, just talking to my dog, I said. That's normal, isn't it.

Steve stopped in and picked up Cricket so that she could go home for the evening shift. My evening clients all asked about her, and I laughed as I automatically stepped around where she lays even though she wasn't there.

This is a short work week for us ... details to follow!

Wow. You do have long work days! but that goes to show how different every dog is. You'd be shocked at how much Troy loves to work! He will work himself down to a worn-out little creature, no jokes! Yesterday and today have been big days for him, and this afternoon he couldn't wait to get home because of the heat. But if it wasn't for the heat, he'd probably still be raring to go. The only thing is, I made sure he got a few long walks in yesterday because I know he loves exercise. He was very tired when I got home last night, and he was tired this afternoon although we didn't walk that much, probably because of yesterday's workouts! Oh, I just remembered we had to rush this morning to get to a bus depot, and that was quite a walk, but it was yesterday and today combined that really got Troy ready for some good down time.

I was told by a Guide Dogs instructor to be careful that Troy isn't overworked and doesn't get too exhausted, but I overcome this problem by giving him water all the time. Works a charm! He's asleep now and has been for quite a while, so I think he's had enough until tomorrow, and it takes a lot to get him out of work mode.

I'm wishing you and Cricket well as always, tell her to keep up the good work!

I think I'd only worry if you *didn't* talk to Cricket haha!! I love having Jayden, because I can have entire out loud conversations with myself, but I'm just talking to him. I'm always commenting on the weather, promising him it will indeed cool off, or saying things like, can you believe it's so hot still? Or, storms a comin. I constantly talk to him.
