Just a Good Day

The alarm went off at 4:15 am for us to get ready to leave for the SLC Marathon - Bike Ride that began at 6 am. Oh, my goodness why did we sign up for this ride? Our friends Paul and Phyllis were to meet us there for the ride - a special friendship that goes back years. So, we got up. Paul also has retinitis pigmentosa and they ride a tandem. We love to spend time together any chance we can. It was very cold and still dark as we began this ride. We hadn't ridden since our ride in October and it felt so great to be back on the bike. Walking with Cricket and Riding on our Tandem Bike are the two places that I don't feel blind (if that makes sense!) perhaps another way to describe it is I just feel freedom. We loved riding by Paul and Phyllis for most of the ride and talking (sometimes I had to be reminded to pedal!). At one point, Paul said to Steve and Phyllis - thanks you guys for being our captains - otherwise we wouldn't be able to enjoy this experience. Steve said - thank you - it would be really hard to ride this tandem alone!

Following the ride we came home and worked in the yard planting some bushes, weeding and getting ready for flowers. We made our first visit of the year to the nursery. Steve told them - we'll be back! Indeed we will. I am visualizing it all in my head where and what to plant. I love that there is dirt in my fingernails.

Then, we accomplished everything on our errand list for the day. Felt so great.

Just returned home from taking one of our new therapists and her husband out to dinner (yes, at Sego Lily). How delightful to get to know her better and her husband. Side note: they weren't aware that Cricket was there until we got up to leave. Good girl, Cricket! Excited to be working with her. Last night we also had the chance to take another new therapist and her husband out to dinner.

I feel SO alive!

Oh I just love "those" days when everything gets accomplished! Nice job on the bike ride! Hopefully we can get you in the Bike Fix clothing soon, you'll be such a good representative :)
I went to SL with my mom and Layla yesterday... and of coarse I introduced her to our favorite salad. She loved it just as much as you and I do!

How cool that you got to do that. I have never been on a tandom bike.

and I am anxious to get outside and work too. Right now I am enjoying myself and my visit to Utah with the kids.

Mom - yes! See you soon.
Shan - Oh, I am so excite to go to the Bike Fix - my helmet was voted needing to be replaced yesterday - probably will be my first purchase at The Bike Fix!
Wendy - How fun you are in Utah. We could do lunch :D A ride on a tandem is a blast. The challenge is letting go of all control.
