My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Group Member

I love creating groups in my office -- people getting together who have similar challenges can be a part of the healing process. Some of our dearest friendships were formed with others who also had Retinitis Pigmentosa and we became a support to each other and friendships were formed. Right now, I have a small group - two 11 year old girls who have had to deal with a very difficult challenge in their young lives. We meet each week and since the first week, K puts name tags on each of us for the group including Cricket. In the picture below she has her name tag on note the spelling: Crricket.
Its hard for Cricket to keep her name tag on with hair, however! Cricket knows when they come - it is fun time. The harness is off, they carry her bed into our group room, much of the group is spent on Cricket level on the floor. The four of us sit around and share. My name tag has been known to be left on and later in the day someone will ask -- why do you have your name in kids writing on your shirt? I always smile thinking of my sweet client that put it on me!

The name "Crricket" suits her! What a sweet photo. Those 11-year old girls must love you. What a blessing you are in their young lives.

To prevent her name tag from falling off, perhaps Cricket could have a special collar made that has her name sewn in it that she only wears during group.

She is a special dog in so many ways...she does such good work.

Mimi - I do think it is the other way around. I feel blessed to work with them.
