Seasons

I spent some of today pulling up dead flowers, rearranging my closet -- moving summer clothes out and making room for Fall clothes, and yes, even putting up a little Autumn decor in our home. Overall, I enjoy the change of seasons we have here in Utah (if winter could be a little shorter that would be nice :D) There are definitely things I will miss about summer and also events, plans and activities that we didn't get to do -- I can't believe we have only had four (I think) barbecues at our home this summer and haven't enjoyed sitting on our deck and enjoying the summer evenings near as often as I'd like.

I began to think of the seasons in my life ... they come and go so quickly and although I am trying to embrace the one I am in ... at times I find myself reflecting back and missing something about a previous time. I realize that what I miss is more time with those people I love in the different seasons. Could I just go back and hold my kids again ... get another day to greet them after school... I am reminded that anything I have done with my career is so secondary to the joys of being a wife, mom, daughter, and friend. Overall, this season of 'near empty nest' is a joy and now I have plenty of time for the career path (which I am loving). It is a season of working, wonderful time with husband, and enjoying any chance to see our kids, parents and others. Also, the new season means a chance to wear the beautiful Fall colors. Plum, olive and grey are some of my favorites this year!

I'm so glad I was a part of one of those barbecues! I absolutely LOVE Fall too. It's such an exciting time of the year.

I love fall, but more because that means winter is almost here! Living with ski patrolers I have to be excited, or I think they would kick me out. But I love snow and being outside with my dogs, and then comign home to awesome HOT food.

Fall is something I have had to learn to love. The smokey smells are great. As is the damp smell after the earth after its been plowed. The wardrobe change is oneof the best parts of the season change. I do hate to see the pool close and wear layers and layers. The Darkness feels good on my eyes. Our yoga studio has a "a;ll you can eat' offering so I signed up for as many classes as I can get to from now until Christmas for $380. A deal!! Grey? Plum and olive? Nice!

Summer went by too fast. I am not ready for the season to change, but I do love fall. As fall changes to winter, I have to mentally prepare myself for the months & months of rain here in Oregon. On the positive side of all those rainy days is the snowfall at Mt. Hood.
