We did it!!

i've been excited to do the Salt Lake City Bike Tourfor the last few weeks. I must admit when we learned the starting time was 6 am there was a little bit of uhhh ... but Steve picked up our registration packets yesterday and we had the alarm set for 4:30 am so we could get ready and drive in and take trax up to the starting line. Well, 5:30 Steve wakes up ... yikes - our alarm didn't go off - we almost crawled back into bed but we decided to jump in the car and see if we could make it. We drove up to the starting point - whew, there was a parking space and as we were getting out of our car we heard them send off the start. We were able to join in late and had an amazing ride! The ride was 26.2 miles (same route the marathon runners are running now) It was a little chilly but exhilerating. I LOVE it and actually did really well (not a lot of uphill which helps our speed). As we rode Trax back up to our car ... we were asking other cyclists where their next ride is - we're ready. Love ya, Captain. (In tandem language: Steve is the captain - I am the stoker.) I'm stoked for our next ride!)

What an awesome stoker I have. Even though she was freezing cold and frustrated because the alarm didn't go off in time to get us there the way we planed, She got up and said lets go anyway. We made the start and whenever I needed that extra boost to climb a hill or overcome a tired moment I felt her power and enthusiasm pushing us to the next level. Our goal was 15 miles per hour. With her power on the back we smashed that goal and averaged 17.35 mph. Even though the failed alarm clock caused us to start last we finished well in the middle of the pack. She is awesome, my love and inspiration along with the power behind evey good thing in my life, including bicycling. Oh yeah and her dog Cricket is a joy as well. You can never get too much unconditional love that dogs seem to provide.

i am always intrigued by humans who know what a morning looks, let alone enjoy it...made even more unbearable by moist chill.

i love reading steve's love for your "power and enthusiasm". it is such a gift.

p.s. congratulations on a well ridden ride!

That is awesome, congratulations for doing it! What a great accomplishment.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, my cousin was there as well, only she was a runner in the half-marathon. What a coincidence!

Was it an easier ride than the Catcus Hugger from last year. That was a killer diller for sure. Congrats!! Your parents are impressed.
