My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

We comment in our office that when we tell people what we do for a living (especially in a social situation) there is awkward silence. At times the topic is changed to what our partner does for a living. Now is finance/banking really more fun to talk about these days than therapy? Or in my case, they can then ask about Cricket's profession - How long has she been working? How long does it take to train? Now, Cricket's work is a fun topic I never tire to explain or talk about. We are approaching our 2-year anniversary of her working, she will be 4 in June, and the whole training concept still amazes and inspires me as does the dedicated puppy raisers.

Hey cover girl...banking is about as exciting as internal audit at the local gas company! And then people can't understand why I get excited talking about what it takes to put gas pipe in the ground...to each his own.

FT puppy raising would be awesome...I bet Cricket was an adorable puppy. Post some puppy pix if you have some...

I have the same thing with some people. Since I work in animal rescue, either people really want to talk about it, or they avoid it like the plague. You can usually tell who has gotten a dog or cat without thinking about it and then dumped them at the shelter.
