Feeling Anticipation - Two years ago ...

Two years ago I was packing getting ready to go to Guide Dogs for the Blind in Oregon. I was excited. After retiring Pantera (just had to put this picture in ... she was such a great hostess at her retirement party - greeting her many guests)September 17, 2006 (she worked 9 years to the day) and using a cane for 6 months afterwards; I was VERY eager to again walk with ease with a guide dog. The six months had been a good time for Steve and Pantera to form an added bond and her and I to change our bond so when we brought the new dog home, we were all ready and eager for this new guide. As I remember that evening of packing, a very exciting event took place! Our now son-in-law Adam, came for a visit to ask permission to marry our daughter! We were super excited this was happening and so excited that he could join us for the upcoming Guide Dog graduation, too. I left to Oregon knowing one of the days while I was there I would get a very excited phone call from Natalie -- which I did.

Those are fun memories - I got thinking - that would be a trippy moment having a young man ask your permission to marry your daughter. Shew! I don't know - that's like the first time you see Merryl Streep in "Mamma Mia" Singing memories while her daughter gets ready for her wedding. I don't know about you but my sister and I cried our eyes out.

I was excited for your visit to Oregon, since I knew that I would get to see you again & to meet your new guide dog. Meeting Cricket for the first time was a joy for me, since I knew the freedom that she would provide for you, just as Pantera had.........
Special memories for all of us.
