Cricket is loved and loves her work

Perhaps this title is obvious and why I like this picture (this girl is in a trance almost!)
I was appalled to read the letter in the LA Times from Peta regarding their concern for the care of a guide dog. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/01/when-we-first-r.html There is some real inaccurate information regarding the care of a guide dog. Truth: These dogs are so loved and happy doing their work and they do get much time to play and relax. If they are not happy in this career, they are able to change careers or retire. I know I am speaking to the choir but it is frustrating ... there are many important causes to get behind and certainly I do not like any abuse or poor treatment of an animal. Guide Dogs for the Blind is a fabulous organization and has love and respect for each of these dogs. I believe Cricket loves her time of service and is happy. Thanks - I feel better!

Thanks to Steve and others who have written responses to educate.

People are so dumb sometimes. Good for you for speaking up and when you find the link, send it to me and I will respond too.

Oh, that is so frustrating when you come across such misinformed people who spread their falsehoods.

I had to laugh so hard when I read that PETA staff because Coral, who is supposed to be in harness 24/7, was running around the house with Banzai!!! Not that we want to read such nonsense again & again, but here is the link.

Dear Becky~
What a misguided perception of a guide dog's daily life. Thanks for bringing this article to my attention. No doubt I am late to the discussion,I'll bet they got a lengthy letter from GDB. And many others.
PETA had a good progressive ideal in protecting animals from abuse but this is dishonest and "NUTS".
Catching up on your blog today :-)
