"Cricket, find the counter"

Today was another victory for me and Cricket.
A guide dog, learns 'find the' and then you can teach them to find different things as they are guiding such as find the elevator, find the door, find the escalator. One that is very helpful to me when I am shopping alone is to have my guide dog "find the counter" -- when they can do this then I can go to the counter and ask for further assistance. This can be confusing to a dog because what does a 'counter' look like?? Each store is a little different . . .so - you definitely need to be kind as you help them learn this. Cricket has been doing great and today I walked into Anthropologie --( what a fun store but a little scary with all the things one can knock over!) and told her to 'find the counter' -- She weaved through the aisles -- which in that store are pretty randomly spaced, etc and we landed upon the counter!! This picture is her with her victory purchase for Natalie's birthday!!!

Dear Bly

Lexie is trying to teach me how to send a comment. I think that is wonderful that Cricket can now find the counter. I remember how amazed when Pantera found the counter in the old ZCMI store. DO you remember?

Find the counter........gosh I never thought about how useful that would be..............
Good job Cricket. I'm quite impress, cause sometimes in large dept. stores, I have a hard time finding the counter. Love, Debi
