I believe life presents us with many wonderful opportunities. Often they come through working through challenging times and at times when a door in our life has been closed we sit in the hallway creating a new door to open. Sometimes I reflect on the challenges in my life and what I have learned through these times, the people I have met and the opportunities that have come my way; and I feel deep gratitude.
I haven't shared with many people about a special opportunity that is coming up for me and my family. Infact, one of my colleagues yesterday said - Becky why is there a picture with you and the governor on your ipad! The following pictures had just come through! As I shared what is coming up, I so appreciated her genuine warmth and support. I feel such gratitude to work with amazing colleagues that are some of my dearest friends as well. We will be going to New York City in a couple weeks where I will receive a special award as one of three National Mothers of Achievment from
American Mothers. The best part will be sharing this experience with my family. We will miss Kendall (it is right before finals of his last semester). My parents, Natalie and Adam will join Steve and I -- how special, right! We will be staying at a hotel where Steve's parents had their first date: Waldorf Astoria. Very cool! Just last week, his mom gave us the picture of that first date.

Meeting Governor Herbert with the other Utah Mothers |
|
Special memory with Natalie - dang Steve had suggested that I wear a black sock so my feet looked the same with my brace! |

Utah Mothers - notice Cricket's enthusiasm of the whole event :)!
Indeed being a mother is a beautiful gift that I treasure each day. I reflect back to a day when I wondered could I be a mom who was blind. Of course! LOVE. I have deep love and admiration for my children who are now incredible, compassionate young adults contributing to their families and communities in so many ways. After I was nominated, I then had to write a short essay. Would you be interested in reading it?
Staff Meeting today - I am so excited to be surprising my colleague with her favorite kind of birthday cake. My intern and I are pulling it off and she is going to be so surprised!

Congratulations! And I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to read your essay. :)
I would be interested in having my MOM read your essay to me. Yep I would! I love the photo with all of you and Cricket is just like, "OK I'll just lay here, maybe I'll take a nap. Huh? What? Oh that's the Governor? Oh, well nice to meet him. Wake me when it's over." hahhhha. OK I guess she might not be saying that, but it made me laugh."
Blessings,
Goose
Goose - you are so right! They kept trying to get me to sit up ... nope! I hope we get to play one of these days :). Love, Crickers

You're so awesome!!!!!! And I totally agree that you deserve a trophy for all of your accomplishments! You look ultra fabulous in all the pics, but boo for that darn foot injury.
I'm still trying to think of a way to cheer you up about the "no running" situation. When I think of something fabulous... we'll go out!

The other day, I passed a car whose CA license plate read "Wasatch", and I thought, hey, Becky was the Wasatch Woman. And now this! An even bigger honor, but not at all surprising. Congratulations, Becky, hope you can take it all in and feel as special as you truly are.
