Beautiful

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.  These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern.

I get to talk to a beautiful group of ladies tonight.  I have been reflecting on what to say when I remembered this quote a client had shared with me.  It fits.  Now what to say for the next 20 minutes?  My beautiful partner Cricket will not be able to join me.  She'll be there in my heart.  My beautiful friend that will be picking me up - said she will be my Cricket for the evening :).

I'm waiting for my friend/running partner.  There is a skiff of fresh layer of snow.  She will take the tether and fasten part to her arm, and I'll hold on to the other part.  She will  tell me what obstacles we need to avoid.  Now, that is beautiful.  I think my tether will be a visual example tonight.

I certainly have been learning about how "lifes experiences" soften us...hopefully
funny, to say HARD things can soften us.
but as you said....more compassionate towards others.
The whole "been there done that" offers a lot when helping other people.

What a beautiful quote! I haven't stopped by in a while and I'm so sorry to hear about Cricket! I'm sure it HAS been very hard for both of you. What a wonderful friend you have...to go running with you!
