Beautiful Birthday

This quote was shared with me this week and such a reminder to celebrate the gift of life.

Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many. Unknown.

(This is from my amazing mom.)

I woke up to treats, gifts (some awesome treasures that I can't wait to enjoy and wear), and even some cash (trying to decide between a black coat purchase or another pair of jeans that I love).  The most beautiful part of this birthday is sharing with people I love.

I find myself on this birthday being ever so grateful for the joy in my life.   Yes, I put this party hat on and started the singing of Happy Birthday :).  Funny, it was dinner time for Cricket while we were opening presents so she is sitting by her bowl waiting for dinner.  Silly girl.  Actually silly girls!
Speaking of so much beauty in this day, I have been loving this necklace from See Beautiful.  Confession:  this necklace was intended to be a gift, but I loved it so much that I will be ordering another one for the gift!   Along with the beautiful necklace, came the message in part - See Beautiful was designed to empower women to see the beauty they inherently possess and empower all to see the beauty in the world.   As one that doesn't 'see' the beauty in the typical way, I can say it is indeed all around us.  A portion of the proceeds go to The Dressing Room Project.  Incredible message from them:  Worry about the size of your heart not the size of your body.

Also available are tags that can fit on a dog's collar (or so many other uses).  So now Cricket also has a tag on her collar from See Beautiful.  I just love that my guide dog has a tag that indicates See Beautiful.  We do.  I am loving this message for us to See Beautiful  as a guide dog team.

I've been getting asked some questions about retinitis pigmentosa, so I'm going to write some posts on that fun topic.  Any questions, you might be wondering.

How fun! Your presents sound terrific. You could be the spokesperson for See Beautiful, because you really do see beautiful.

Belatedly, we send happy birthday greetings. I loved your message about growing older, since I'm about to turn 60 next month. Indeed, growing older is a privilege denied to many.

It has always bothered me when people joke about birthdays with black balloons and such. We all have friends and family who didn't have the privilege of living so long -- I say live our lives fully in honor of them. Happy birthday, Becky!
