Perspective

My shopping for shoes post will have to wait :) Yesterday our area we love and call home was impacted by unreal winds - strongest winds since 2000. You can check out the forces of hurricane-force winds and the details of our area's destruction here . Our home was not affected except power outage for about 18 hours. Our office lost some shingles and also power outage for the day.  We stayed warm when we returned home with our snuggle bug, blankets, and our fireplace.

Our usual candle decorations were used to add some light for the evening.
Crazy side story on this day - I used the day to do some cleaning at my office and had a really productive day .. except I fell and looks like broke two bones in my hand/wrist so yes, I'm back in a brace.  I did recommit to using a cane in my office and was reminded even for those short distances when you forget you placed a pile of boxes somewhere.  Fortunately, can walk with Cricket for short and important walks :).   Fortunately, it can fit over the dress for the holiday luncheon next week which reminds me I have fun shoes to post about in my Shoe Shopping adventure.

My thoughts are with all who were affected as clean up begins.  We drove past our old house in Centerville city which reports $8 million in damage thus far - winds reported up to 102 mph.  Our old homes fence and shingles were fortunately intact.
We had RSI Christmas lunch.  We had a gift exchange and had so much fun sharing.  I was so touched by everyone's thoughtful gifts for each other.   It felt like a grounding lunch after such an ungrounding past couple days.  Some in our office still don't have power at their homes.

After the Muppet Movie (so cute with some pretty great messages!) we went to the Festival of Trees.  This is the beautiful tree created by a dear friend in memory of her three children: Rock -n- Read.  I found myself just standing there and thinking about them and such a place to put life into perspective.

Best wishes for your weekend.  What is happening in your part of the world?

Oh gosh! I'm so sorry you're back in a brace. I've heard from everyone that the winds have been pretty bad over in the west.

Hope you have fun at the Holiday Luncheon! I wish I could be there!

Your poor arm and wrist. Just when you were feeling so good about being better and being able to run, etc. There's a conspiracy to slow you down! You will have a show-and-tell for the holiday luncheon.

PS Cricket looks adorable and warm curled up on her bed.

Oh so sorry about your wrist. Glad you are okay with those winds. They sounded pretty fierce from the news reports!

I love the Festival of the Trees, my daughter and I would always go.
Such tender stories to go with those trees.
Can't wait to see the SHOES
Sorry about your fall, and breaking more bones...be careful girl.
I heard from my kids about those nasaty winds. Yours were worse then Ours. boy, can it ever cause problems eh.
DANG...I won't be able to come to the Mothers gathering on the 14th....that is the day I get in, in the evening.
Please give them a howdy-do from me, and my very best wishes.

I hope you're a fast healer. It's a pain to have the loss of a hand at Christmas (wrapping presents! making cookies!). The picture of Cricket with the blanket over her is so cute. Sorry it had to be under trying circumstances. Winds in the west can be amazingly strong.
