My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Week Recap

Cricket and I returned last night from our journey to San Rafael - affectionately known as Guide Dog Country for our alumni board meetings and a chance to connect with Mimi. It was so much fun to see her.  We had a chance to enjoy lunch and some time on the beach. Thanks so much!  She took the lovely pictures - next time one with her!
I absolutely loved my time at the board meetings.   Yes, they were meetings and much work to do.  There was also much time for laughter and connecting.   I loved getting to know our new board members as well as furthering getting to know the others.  Its a small world after all is ringing through my head as Melissa and I connected on our dogs and dear friends we both knew!  There is something very special about being back in the student dorms ... the memories return.
Plane delay on the way home.  Cricket was not impressed, but a great sport about it.    A sweet lady came up to me and said she saw me getting out of the van and thought Cricket must be from Guide Dogs for the Blind because of her sweet face! Her enthusiasm for GDB and these dogs was so genuine and kind.  I left San Rafael with such deep appreciation for the many people that make a working guide dog team possible.  Truly inspiring.
Arriving in the SLC Airport, I was walking quickly to baggage claim to see Steve.  This Delta employee came up to me and said he'd been trying to catch up with me so he could assist me to baggage claim :).  We walked and talked the rest of the way.  He gave a subtle left - right at times that made our journey easier.

My friend and yoga instructor calls life at fast pace times - high speed wobble.  I'm in a bit of high speed wobble right now.  Life is good and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a fabulous organization - Guide Dogs for the Blind that has blessed my life tremendously.

Going to click 'post' - knock at the door that my running partner is here :).

What's in store for your weekend?

OMG someone said that Cricket must be from GDB because of how sweet she looked? Oh wow! I've read a fair bit about Guide Dogs for the blind, and they seem to be a really good organisation.

Sometimes I think I'd like to go to America to get a guide dog from GDB because of the good stuff I read about them! But I know that's just dreaming on, at least in this chapter of my life.

I'm glad the meetings were inspiring and fun at the same time. I hope you continue to blog! I always feel more cheerful after I read your entries.

Take care and stay safe!

Michelle and kisses from Troy
