My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Tethering through life

A tether is a cord or fixture that anchors something movable to a reference point which may be fixed or moving.
This is my red tether that we use for runnning. I hold on to one end and my guide has the other end around his/her arm. Shannon had made a tether that I lost after our last 1/2 marathon in January. I remember tucking it safely somewhere so it wouldn't be lost. We have searched everywhere for that safe place it was tucked! Gratefully she sewed us a new one.

There have been some ungrounding situations in my life recently, and I have been reflecting on my tethers/anchors that are keeping me grounded.

My beliefs, my family, some amazing friends, running and yoga.

What are your tethers in life?  I think sometimes they are obvious like this red tether ... sometimes they are a little quieter in the background.

My "tethers" are much like yours, although at times I don't take very good care of them and they either become tattered or even lost. I love the analogy you are drawing. Isn't it fun to find symbols of important concepts in our lives. You are one of my heros, just so ya know! Thanks for sharing!

You are such an incredible woman, wife, daughter, mother, mentor and friend! Reading your blog is pretty much becoming a tether for me...its so inspirational and motivating for me. It really pushes my thoughts outside the boundary and forces me to examine the truth in my life.

My family is my major tether! Not only are they family, but they are my best friends. I couldn't make it through any day without my husband and the knowledge I have of the gospel.

Congrats on the 1/2!!! I am sad I missed running with you two.

Thank you for this post, Becky. I used to have a lot of tethers, but over the past few years, so many of them have changed. I'm asking myself, what is my tether now? It's a great thing to think about....
