My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Life

This has been a challenging week where on multiple times I have been reminded of what really matters in life.   Fortunately several weeks prior,  I had scheduled this day off.  Today I had the opportunity to enjoy a day of mindfulness activities.   Doing what I love included connecting with others for lunch.  I was able to meet a couple of the Wasatch Women and Debbie's daughter, Heather. It was a lovely lunch where I left feeling like I had some new friends as well as feeling inspired with their personal journeys.  Their amazing will to create a good life and give back to others admidst multiple challenges led me with a deeper sense of appreciation for the richness of each day and to treausure it with love.  I am excited for us to listen to Debbie Jorde's book: Accepting Life's Challenges on our next drive down to St. George.
After picking up our race gear for the 1/2 marathon (tomorrow - yikes!), Steve and I came home and had some time for gardening. To have dirt in my fingernails and green toes is joy.  I no longer mow the lawn but still find it helpful to navigate with barefeet.

I reacquainted with the layout of our yard - approximately # of steps to the stairs, began to visualize which flowers will go where, etc. 'Digging in the dirt' is a place where I find clarity and grounding. Just received a call from a dear friend that plans to visit the Tulip Festival tomorrow will be cancelled due to an accident that her daughter was in.  I pray that her daughter will be okay.

Life is precious.  Each day is a gift.  Our relationships are a treasure.   Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler state in their book - Life Lessons:  We find many things on this long, sometimes strange journey we see as life, but we mostly find ourselves, who we really are, what matters most to us.  We learn from peaks and valleys what love and relationships really are.  In the mystery of all this, we have been given all we need to make life work -- to find happiness.  Not perfect lives, not storybook tales, but authentic lives that can make our hearts well with meaning.

It was a day of renewal and authenticity with some incredible people.
