Practice Kindness

Recently on a difficult day, I quickly replied back to an email. I clicked on 'reply all' instead of 'reply to sender.' It was a one sentence general reply about a bike ride this summer that all on the email list were receiving. Some time later, I received a really mean email back from someone telling me to learn how to email. I sat there and thought really? I didn't reply but deleted the message. I felt sad for a minute and was reminded the difference an act of meanness or a little kindness can make in our day.

Each day there is kindness shown. Today I seemed to be on quite the roll of craziness. I arrived at the office and didn't have my keys. The cab driver had already dropped me off and I had an appointment arriving soon. The attorney next door invited me to come into his office while I made the necessary calls. How kind. I walked over to Arctic Circle and a kind gentleman opened the door for me and warned me of a slippery patch on the sidewalk. How kind. I left my cell phone at the office. Steve returned to the office and picked it up for me. How kind. I received a note in the mail from my aunt and uncle. How kind. I need to pass it on.

Practice Kindness. If we simply stop each day to show a single act of kindness, if our thoughtful act inspires someone else to do the same, if it multiplies across our city, state and nation, the result will be a worldwide revolution of the heart.

I could not agree with you more. Acts of kindness have such a profound effect and makes people so happy...it leaves wonder as why more of us don't do it often.

So true, Becky. Kindness is such a powerful choice -- both in its effect on others, and its effect on ourselves!

Very true. Even a smile to someone can bring them a little joy in a day. It's so hard when there are those out there who would prefer to be mean.

Woof! Woof! Last 2010 I did a post about Kindness ... that it should be part of every human interaction. Don't you worry,"How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours ..." Sending you lots of Golden HUGS. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

Well clearly that person was having a grumpy day! I can't believe they emailed you like that. Glad that the kindness-odometer outnumbered the grumpy email. But that's also because you focus on the positive. Love that about you.

Loved this Becky. I'm not always the best at being kind. Often times because I don't think to go out of my way. I'm too wrapped up in my own thoughts and forget to think about others. Tomorrow I'm going to work on being kinder. : )
