Nurture Yourself

I spent a lot of Sunday getting ready for a special group today at the office:  Nurturing Yourself During the Holidays.  Ten ladies, who are experiencing a loss in their lives, will be joining me.   We will start with clearing our minds by putting all our 'burdens' in a basket.  Then, Sharon, from Infusions Yoga will help us nourish our bodies and minds with  yoga.   Then, we will enjoy some soup, bread, and sugar cookies and feel support as we nourish our social and emotional self. Call it a clan, call it a tribe, call it a family.  Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.  Jane Howard.  While I was baking today, I kept thinking of these ladies that were going to join us and their stories.  I also reminisced of fun times baking cookies with my kids.  My freezer is full of sugar cookies at the moment.

Last count, 204 cookies, then Kendall came home so it might be down to 183 :).

I am so excited with my new double crockpot.  It feels so festive.  I think it is going to spend a lot of time on our buffet counter in the years to come.   It will make this luncheon easier with two kinds of soup.

We will conclude with reviewing the five realms of self-care:  physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual.  Dr. Alan Wolfelt, states, if you care for youself "with passion" in all five realms you will find your journey through grief much more tolerable.  You can't walk this path alone.

Their "gift" is a Relaxation CD & a gift card to Infusions Yoga.   I hope they enjoy as much as I have enjoyed preparing this special nurturing time for them.

How thoughtful and helpful for those women! You are very creative in the things you do. Love the double crockpot. Never seen one like that before. I have the funniest video of Nat and Kendall making sugar cookies and their advice to me on how to do it LIKE their Mom.

Ahhh, sugar cookies , such comfort food due to all the memories it invokes.
sounds like a good group
people needing people (whoops, didn't mean to sound like Barbara Striesand)
but it is good to find people who can understand the things you are going through.

You're full of warmth and love...the perfect medicine for flailing pathways! Keep up the good work, Becky! I am sure the ladies are going to feel extremely nurtured! (...PLEASE don't forget 'yourself'... you can't pour out good stuff if your own jug is empty)
Those 5 'balancers' are so true, but it's the juggling towards balance which is the difficult part.
