Re-Connecting

We attended a wedding reception last night. It was a highlight to give the bride a hug (a good friend of my daughter for years and her family are dear friends of ours for years). It was so much fun to see many people from our old neighborhood. Our Stage in life seems to be: we say hi and then ask about each others' kids! There is a special bond. Loved it. We searched hard for that special neighborhood. We wanted a nice, quiet neighborhood to raise our children. Knowing I would soon turn in my driver's license, we also wanted a neighborhood that our kids could walk to elementary and junior high. We also wanted a neighborhood that was walking distance to a grocery store. We also wanted a neighborhood that was near a bus route. We wondered if we could find all that ...we found it, plus with incredible nice people. We lived there for many years and have great memories. This neighborhood cried with me when I quit driving, took me to the hospital when I walked into a stop sign (prior to cane travel), gave my kids and me countless rides, brought my family meals and invited them over for dinners while I was gone for a month with my first guide dog. When I broke both my arms, this neighborhood was there to take me to get my haircut, sweep my floor, even help me get dressed when Steve had an early morning meeting. Oh my goodness, I love the people in this neighborhood! The neighborhood has changed. We just learned that one of our dear friends has sold their home. Many others have moved - infact, our home was been sold again. Left the reception with such gratitude for the blessing of kind friends.
Sweet memories and a joy to reconnect.

Sounds like a lovely neighbourhood. I'm very lucky to have friendly helpful neighbours. I don't see them too often, but I know that if I need anything they are there. I'm hoping to have my own house next year, and my mum keeps saying I'm lucky to know the people I'll be living beside. So many people these days don't know their neighbours, and don't want to get to know them either.

What special memories! There is nothing like a neighborhood full of loving, caring families. Sounds like you raised your kids in such a great environment.

p.s. I hate to think of you getting hurt! So glad people were around you to help.

Glad you are able to still be in touch with those friends. That was a nice place to raise the kids for sure.
