Our Bond

Tonight we planned on riding a short bike ride. We will join our group tomorrow morning. After Cricket followed us around as we packed, I couldn't leave her. We will be on a bike for two and a half days - 240 miles. I am not sure which will be harder ... the long ride or missing my Cricket Girl. Steve and I went for a nice long walk together with Cricket by my side this evening. How do you put into words the bond of a guide dog? Incredible. Beautiful. Smooth. Love. Service. Gratitude.

I love you Cricket. I know you will be in good care with my parents, but I am leaving a part of me behind when I leave you. I will look forward to that nice, loving hug and kiss I get when we meet you in St. George. I also will be so grateful to pick up that harness and feel like I have my eyes back.
