Victory Walk

When I finish with a young client (ages 8-12 generally), our final session often entails the chance to take a walk outside with Cricket guiding me - generally it includes walking over to arctic circle for an ice cream cone and to celebrate their victories.   I love it ... even though it means a little good-bye after the ice cream is finished and we have walked back to the office.  We did that today - It is good and am grateful to be a small part in this young girl's journey.

Natalie's post about spelling bee words has me thinking.  Yes, I can remember the spelling bee word I missed - professor in sixth grade.  I was wearing a cute outfit my mom had sewn for that special day of the regional spelling bee.    How about all the victories?  They generally are a little more effort to put in the forefront of our minds but oh so much more important.

My missed spelling bee word: "supersede", from 7th grade. I have never misspelled that word again!! Love what you said about celebrating and making the most of VICTORIES. :-)

It must be ingrained in us not to remember our victories, maybe so we don't get big heads? You're so right, though--it's really easy for me to beat myself up, but very difficult for me to remember any victories.
