Flight Adventures

Cricket recently completed Flight 42 & 43 (I think that's what number we are on).  She is such an easy traveller.  Flight #42 was fairly uneventful except that I purchased the tickets under my name and not my official name. This gave us a little stress but nothing major.  They were very accomodating with us acquiring window bulk head - my personal favorite place to fly.  Cricket sits just in front of my feet and can lean into the walk/window side to keep in out space.  Flying home we had another dog on the plane.  It appeared to be a pet - a smaller dog that did quite a bit of barking initially and was sitting a couple rows behind me.  The man behind me shouted to the flight attendant that he was allergic to dogs and needed to move.  Steve was sitting further back on the plane (we couldn't get seats together on the bulk head row) and so I told the man he could trade seats with Steve.  At the same time he was offered a seat a row ahead of Steve.  Steve overheard him tell the person next to him that he really wasn't that allergic to dogs but wanted to move.  As the passenger who traded him seats sat down he asked me what did it take to get to bring my dog on.  I explained in this situation - blindness.  He decided it wasn't worth it :D.  Someone else asked me if I had to pay for a ticket for my guide dog.  I explained no -as a guide dog she would stay on the floor right in front of my feet and be very quiet.  As I stood up to get off the plane, the passenger behind me was surprised there was a dog in front of him - which means Cricket was doing her job!  Staying in her area quietly.  I am ready for the next adventure ... no future flight is scheduled but Cricket and I will be ready!

Traveling on a plane is NOT what it used to be & YOU have so many other issues traveling with a dog & being visually impaired. You always handle it with patience & grace & you're always educating the public. You are amazing. You too Cricket!!!

I love when they just sleep quietly and people don't realise there is a dog there. Good girl Cricket.
OJ's passport came in the post yesterday, but I can't use it for another 5 months. With this ash cloud over Ireland, I doubt we'll be booking flights any time soon anyway, but I'm looking forward to travelling again on a plane with him.
