Happy Weekend

Kendall's birthday is coming up. He left us a note while we were out of town with his request for his birthday: a giant poster framed for his apartment. I love when I have a clue what to buy for someone. Saturday after yoga Steve & I (and of course, Cricket) went to Ikea. A good place to find large frames, however, that store is overwhelming to me (blind or not still probably)! I lost count of how many times we heard Look mom there is a dog! I also was very impressed at how many moms told their kids yes, she is a working dog so we don't pet her (thank you!). While we were in the area picking up one of our purchases the cutest little girl, maybe 18 months, and her mom came up to us and asked if she could pet Cricket. Cricket was just sitting so I told her she could and she gave Cricket a gentle little kiss on the top of her head. So sweet.
Enjoying this cookie and lunch (yes, soup of course!) with Steve at Kneaders brought a smile.

Hope you are having a great weekend. I am hoping to get some home and work tasks crossed off before the weather turns warm and I want to be outside. And of course, plan to spend time enjoying the Olympics this weekend. Yay, for inspiring stories.

I love reading your blog! It's so nice to see how well you are doing, and how amazing you and cricket both are together.
My little girl, who is legally blind, may need a guide dog one day, so it really makes me feel so good to read your posts. Thank you. :)

Hey Becky and Cricket!!!!! Just writing to say that i found your blog when reading another person's blog. The post "Mondays with missy" was there, and i got a bit curious. I clicked on it thinking that it was guidedog related, and it was!!!!!!!!!

I have just finished wading through your blog, and it was a good "Wade".

I will add your blog to my RSS reader now, and look forward to reading more posts!!!

Take care, xoxox

That doesn't look like a cookie--it looks like a bean bag. The whole time Ikea was built in SLC I never got there. There is one here in Calgary though.

thanks for the happy weekend wishes.

LOVE IKEA!! I turn my ears off to the "Oh look! A Dog!" I normally don't hear it any more. I love when the kids correct the parents about touching the dogs. It happens frequently out here because 4th graders read a story about a guide dog. Yippy! Love all the help we can get!

Beck - Ikea is overwhelming for the sighted too...kind of like Babies R Us for the non parent.

Glad to hear parents were stepping in and EDUCATING their children!!!

Jenn - How sweet ... Thank you for reading my blog. Torie - Welcome and glad Missy could bring a reader :D Wendy - yes it was a very LARGE cookie. Thanks all to the validation that Ikea is an overwhelming (but fun) store sighted or not! I know when they gave Steve a map and said 'you are here' that I would be confused.
