Learning & Simplifying

As I was finishing up at the computer, I realized Cricket was snoozing in one of her favorite places (the dog shower). It was funny that she was sound asleep with two toys on top of her. I'm not sure how that happened -- was she chewing on her bone and got tired? (The picture is of Cricket curled up in her deep snooze with her red ring and her nyla ring on top of her)
I have been learning how to use my Victor Reader. I am excited that my dear friend helped me load 12 books so I can begin to listen to books again! Cricket in this pose reminded me that my friend, Linda, said one of her favorite features of the Victor Reader is the snooze button -- so as you are reading it will automatically turn off after 10 minutes, etc. I am still learning how to locate the book, begin to read, and mark it. Pretty excited. (Picture below is a basket of all Cricket's toys.)
I've been organizing my home office/dog room. This is my cozy room where I spend much of the time when I am home. I put all of Cricket's toys in this basket and she thinks it is a fun new challenge to pull them out and scatter them around. Steve and I have noticed a drop in my vision in the past few weeks which always equals the next level of organizing, gaining additional skills, adjustments and ways to simplify. Any ways you have simplified your life?

My dogs love that game "let's pull all the toys out of the toy bucket!" LOL they think it's the best game.

The Victor Reader sounds very useful! That's great that you have some books you can listen to on it now.

I am always in awe of how you have such a positive outlook towards changes with your vision loss. Anytime my disability related stuff changes I tend to get negative first before I can see the positives to it or cope with it well. You are amazing!

Hopefully, dear friend,it's only the lack of light in the atmosphere. . .But I am with you on organizing. I too have a study/dog room with a desk and a basket of toys. It needs a real 'breath of fresh air', Order!
We are blessed all along the way aren't we?

Simplifying for me = purging of stuff. Example - as you know, I got my colors one yesteray. Got new makeup. Got a Clinique compact I will no longer use. Went to take it back, they can only refun the CC or exchange for store credit. Well, I decided not to buy something just for store credit. So I am going to give it to my mom to exchange an get some new make up - something esigne uniquely for me - instead. :)

Katrin - Yes, I have that piece of the emotions too -- working through the loss.
Susan - Indeed always blessings along the way.
Nicole - I so agree. Getting rid of the clutter/stuff is so healing for me. Sounds like a great day you had.

One of my favorite songs says, "I want only this--I want to live a simple life." And I try to remind myself of that often.

I remember when I first had kids, I decided to simplify my life by not wearing jewelry. It was something that seemed unnecessary and got in the way with babies/toddlers about. Now, 14 and 16 years later, other than my wedding ring, I still don't wear jewelry. Not a very fun suggestion, I know!! But I think there are other little things we can decide to do without in order to simplify time, finances, space.

Becky, I hope you are doing okay with this next stage of vision loss. It's got to be difficult, even though you always seem to accept it all with grace.
