My Cute 'Car'
My dad teasingly tells me I shouldn't talk on my cell phone while driving my car (Cricket). I find my walk from one office to the next on a busy day is when I get caught up on returning phone calls. Today while talking on the phone, I whispered to Cricket and gave her the hand signal, forward. The new client on the other end said -- oh if you are driving you can call me back. No, I'm just walking with my guide dog. (silence as they process that one :D) Our conversation continues. A few minutes later, Cricket stopped, I prodded with my feet and whispered, hop up, she didn't move. I prodded again with my foot and there was a big tumbleweed in the middle of the sidewalk that was a definite obstacle but hard to feel because it was so lightweight. Oh, good girl Cricket I whisper. I pulled a couple kibble from my pocket and Cricket and I celebrated her good work. We continue on. All in a days work. I never cease to be grateful for the joy of walking freely.

Hehehehehe this gave me a much needed chuckle and smile!
That was cute. I can't talk on the phone and DRIVE ev-ah.
I did some reading up on your posts. Funny list of christmas things from your dog.
And how nice to have a Bible street --especially in this day of being "oh so politically correct and make sure no one ever mentions the word Christ....especially at Christmas" Sheeeeesh
What a cute and cuddly "car" she is too! :))
Hopefully you have a blue tooth and can be "hands free" while driving?
Cricket is the best kind of 'car' around!
WOW. I entirely can not coordinate talking on the phone and walking with James at the same time. We end up stopped, if I have to talk, then once I'm done we start up again. Then again I never could chew bubble gum and walk either. :-)
We were given strict instructions to never talk on the phone while being guided. You been up there to get Cricket since I came home, have the rules changed?
Thanks for your great comments - Yes, Cricket takes such good care of me. RP - I should of specified, yes I am very careful when using my cell phone while walking and do so only briefly and in a familiar setting - this situation is walking on a straight sidewalk from one office to the next with generally nothing unexpected - perhaps that is why I was so surprised when there was an obstacle. You never know. Thanks for your comment - Tell me about your guide and when were you on campus?
