Special Hat

Hope you each had a nice Thanksgiving. A call from our daughter, nice dinner with family, a movie: Blind Side - 5* we loved it, and a walk in the morning = a great day. So very much to be grateful for each and every day. In the picture below we are walking along one of our favorite trails with a beautiful blue sky and mountains in the background. As I pulled out my green knit hat, memories came to mind. I was new in my profession when I was called to the hospital to visit a client who had recently lost her vision. She was a young girl and the last thing she wanted to do was talk to a therapist. (I would have felt the same way.) Over the next few days and visits we formed a connection (thanks to my previous guide dog and some fun girl things manicures, lotions, teaching blind makeup techniques). Fast forward a few more years and I received this special hat that she had knit for me. I pull it out each year and am grateful for this special person, beautiful memories and how others touch our lives.
The picture above is a little closer of the hat. Cricket is anxious to continue up the stairs and quickly poses for the camera.

Wow what a cool story. I bet she thinks of you often, like I think of my therapist in those early months after going blind. What a neat memory, and how cool to have that hat!

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. And what a great gift to remember a client by! I'm sure she thinks of you often too.

What a wonderful story! I will have to check out Blind Side: sounds like a great movie.

Random note: i love the look on Cricket's face in the last picture, like she can't wait for the camera to go so she can get to the top!

Kevin took Layla out for a bike ride and said he saw you walking and didn't realize it was you until it was too late to say hello. But he was so excited when I told him that you ride a tandem bike and it really made him think about how much trust you have in people! you're awesome.

Ro & L^2, Thank you and I hope so. I sure can remember my therapist that helped me immensely during a difficult transition time.
Lisa, Glad you enjoyed Blind Side too.
Sarah - yes, that is funny you noticed Cricket's face. She was not amused with stopping for a picture. She had a destination in mind.
Shannon - Ohhhh, I missed a chance to see your girl and Kevin :D -- hope our paths cross again SOON.
Wendy - Thank you! Love special memories and objects that link to them.
