My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Therapist Cricket, part 2

These 10 tips come from Mental Health America. Cricket seems to be practicing them pretty well.

1. Get plenty of rest. Take frequent naps. Devote a full seven to eight hours of sleep each night to sustain a proper balance of physical and mental health. (Cricket has this one mastered.)
2.Go for walks. Regular exercise is an excellent way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Enjoying a long walk at a moderate pace allows you to reflect on your day while getting the blood flowing. (Cricket loves a good long walk - especially now that the weather has cooled off)
3.Eat something new. Tackle a new recipe or try a new vegetable (Cricket & I recently had raw yams -- yum actually better than carrots)
4. Challenge yourself with something new. (Cricket loves a new route or learning a new word.)
5. Spend time with others. Make that effort to spend time with family and friends. Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while. (Everyone is Cricket's friend.)
