My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

Special Day

When I think of October 11, my memory goes back to walking in the Portland Airport after graduation with my first guide, Pantera. I was walking confidently and leaving my husband and kids behind saying wait for us. It is a day that each year I make a point to call, email, send something to Pantera's puppy raisers. How do you thank someone for that magnificent gift of my independence? Not sure, so I just keep thanking them, Cricket's puppy raiser, and each of you that are doing this incredible service. One of my favorite songs is "Have I done any good in the world today?" As I heard this song recently, I thought of all the incredible puppy raisers who give and serve daily so that I and so many others can enjoy this beautiful gift of freedom. THANK YOU.

we do it for moments like that, that's why :) So neat to hear about your specific experiences, it helps us to better prepare these pups.

I hope Cabana will go on to help someone as much as Cricket and Pantera have helped you! Thanks for your thoughtful gratitude, Becky. Makes me proud to be a puppy raiser!

I can't wait to see one of my pups go on to help someone. I love hearing your perspective: it makes raising mean so much more!
