Home Sweet Home

Cricket and I made it home late last night from San Rafael. I am still 'processing' all I learned and experienced at our Alumni Board Meetings and the fun opportunity to meet a blogger friend! A few highlights:
* Navigating through a new airport, shuttle, taxi to arrive at my destination. Cricket did fabulous and received many hugs and well deserved compliments along the way for her good work.
*Being able to meet in person my fellow GDB alumni board members. This was a special part of the trip. I feel like I have some new dear friends. I will learn so much from each of them.
*Cricket has a new goughnut and Steve has a new hiking shirt from the GDB Gift shop.
* I met Mimi and Cabana . Such a treat and so glad they could take time from their busy life for the afternoon to spend time and take us to the airport. Cabana is such a cutie and Mimi is incredible. I hope our paths can cross again and feel fortunate for the friendship!

We stopped at a cute cafe to enjoy a drink together.

Perhaps Cricket is sharing with Cabana a few secrets of life as a guide dog.

*The assistance I had at the SFO Airport was incredible. The man was so helpful and as we walked from one gate to the next (it was switched at the last minute so we had much time to visit) -- he asked about my family and I did about his. He shared with me that he had been apart from his wife who was still in the Phillippines for years and he hoped he could bring her here soon. He left and encouraged me to tell my family how much I loved them! I told him I hoped his wife could join him soon ... he said maybe in the next year. WOW.
*I love an adventure and also appreciate returning home.

It was great to hang out with you and Cricket, Becky! What a nice story about the man at SFO--the world can be so impersonal, so it's refreshing to meet nice people in unexpected places.

Sounds great Becky. Glad you had a nice trip.
I've never met any bloggers yet, but have met people I know online from different message boards, and guide dog owners and its always interesting to meet them face to face.

How nice for you and Cricket to have time with Mimi and Cabana. Fun to see a picture of them both. One thing about blogging - you meet people electronicaly and quite often have only a mental picture of what they look like. Now I have the real picture! So nice!

Good to have you back in Utah. Love to you both.
