I love my job

When working with adolescents I find my creativity being tested (simply to get them to be willing to talk and open up) and also find such joy in some of their comments when they are finally willing to share their lives with me. A young man I have been working with for over a year and I were talking trying to look back and evaluate what had helped - what had not - I was blown away when he said, "I really like when you can get me to cry!"

A 14 year old girl told me, "I like that you can't see that my hair is purple so you won't judge me for that."

I am very appreciative for the young client who helped me figure out how to turn off my phone! She said 'well, its hard for you guys that are older to understand all this stuff.' So true. As I said, I LOVE MY JOB.

That's great! One of my students told me that I needed to do my hair and wear makeup...yeah, it wasn't my best looking day...but he's a 4th grade visually impaired student...must have been BAD that day or something ;)

You are so wonderful. Your clients are so blessed to get to work with you. Just sitting and listening to your take on the world is so inspiring.
