Inspiring New Friends!

This past weekend I had the chance to meet two new friends on separate ocassions who also have Retinitis Pigmentosa - Lacey and Lois. I felt a bond to both of them as without saying anything we knew some of the challenges we are facing and the joys each other had experienced through the "RP Journey." I wish I had a picture of them to 'brighten my blog' ... as they warmed my heart with their strength and resilience. We connected as women, wives, moms who also happen to be going blind! I learned so much from both of them and look forward to staying in touch!

Hi Becky,

I don't have RP but have similar problems like tunnel vision and night blindness!!! I used to be able to see better, I guess. But every time I go to my eye doctor, the results are worse... Mine is something to do with optic nerve.

Anyway, thought you may enjoy my friend, Zane's blog. (Zane is a guide dog.) His partner Richard has RP as well, and now he's posting the series of his experience of losing sight. http://zanetrain.blogspot.com/

Nikki; Yes, you can relate . .sounds pretty similar. Not much 'good news' we hear at the eye doctor, right! Thanks for the link to Richard and Zane's blog! Yes, I have met him! Did you graduate in the same class at GDB?

Becky,

Yes, I was in the same class as Richard & Zane at GDB. We were also the table mates at the dining hall and has lots of fun swiping food! Our dogs liked each other too! My dog always started a party under the table and got Zane in trouble!!! But unfortunately, I didn't graduate with Richard because my dog was cc'ed 2 day before the graduation!!! I wrote about it a little in my blog. It's still sad to think about...
